Review: The Reader (2008)
The Reader Excellent story about love and secrecy. This story shows you how easily young people could seduced to make love and do any bidding for the lover. It's so strange that how much ones first love can affect their whole life.
The story is mainly about a man who is shadowed by a love he had with an older woman when he was 15 years. Story unfolds centering the mans past and present showing how he silently suffer from his old memories.
Very strong and strange story of love. Very good acting by David Kross as Michael Berg, Kate Winslet as Hanna Schmitz, Ralph Fiennes as Michael Berg (Adult)
The film is based on a novel written by Bernhard Schlink
Distributed by The Weinstein Company
Running time: 124 min
Rating: 8/10 (The Reader)

one of the best movies i've ever seen. It shows the nature of "first love" as you say. But I saw another perspective. In the middle part during the trial it shows the rationality of World War II clearly.
ReplyDeleteI think Kate Winslet got an academy award(or somthing) for this movie. There's another one of hers called "Revolutionary Road". Downloading now. Heard its a good one too.
I also missed one point in the post,
ReplyDeleteKate's pride cost her life in prison.
One law student says that this trial is just a show off, to satisfy the world. He tells that all older German people are guilty because they let the WW2 happen.
A perfect film. I saw it three times and would like to watch it one time more. This is the kind of movie I love to watch.
