This is a great story. You will learn even if it's backwards or forward the ultimate final result will be the same.
Carefully listen to Benjamin Button narration. You would pick up really good advice and lessons of life.
Cannot say the plot is 100% original because of Forest Gump's. It was a great experience to watch this movie till the end.
If someone ask what is the best drama movie you have watched I will say The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

In my opinion, it's a story told well. It has just about everything that defines a good movie. The story doesn't necessarily have to be true - hell that's why we make movies in the first place - but the story needs to be told well. And they have. Loved it and Brad Pitt gives his best again.
